4th Grade - 1st and 2nd Quarter Music Benchmarks

 

Re7.1.A. Analyze music for listening which connects to personal interests, experiences, specific purposes, or contexts. {This year, our focus is on Hawaiian music because it is taught in 4th grade Social Studies}

 

Pr6.1 - A. Perform music, alone or with others, with expression and technical accuracy, and appropriate interpretation.

     * I can perform on the ukulele with good holding position, correct fingering

   and changing of the chords, and strum to a steady beat.

     * I can perform a rhythmic ostinato with correct rhythm and a steady beat {Piapa}

 

Pr4.2 - A.  Demonstrate understanding of the structure and the elements of music

* I can play and perform rhythms with quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests

   

4th Grade - 3rd & 4th Quarter Music Benchmarks 

 

Pr4.2 - A.  Demonstrate understanding of the structure and the elements of music

* I can read and perform rhythms with quarter note and rest, half note, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes.

* I understand the concepts of chorus (hui), tempo, pitch, timbres (Hawaiian 

  implements, Hawaiian Trio, Royal Hawaiian Band, chants)

 

Pr4.2 – B. Sing or play using a variety of simple songs alone and with others, containing level-appropriate expressive elements and elements of music

* I can sing a Hawaiian song with accurate pitch and pronunciation.
