6th Grade - 1st and 2nd Quarter Music Benchmarks

 

MU:Pr4.3.6a – Perform a selected piece of music demonstrating how their interpretations of the elements of music and the expressive qualities (such as dynamics, tempo, timbre, articulation/style, and phrasing) convey intent.

  • I can read and perform rhythms with pizzicato on the ukulele

  • I can perform songs on the ukulele with correct holding position, fingering, and to a steady beat.  

 

MU:Pr4.2.6b – When analyzing selected music, read and identify by name or function standard symbols for rhythm, pitch, articulation, and dynamics. (Reading Music)

  • I can read rhythms with quarter notes, eighth notes, and rests.

  • I can read the letter names of notes in treble clef on the staff

 

 

 

6th Grade - 3rd & 4th Quarter Music Benchmarks


MU:Pr4.2.6b – When analyzing selected music, read and identify by name or function standard symbols for rhythm, pitch, articulation, and dynamics. (Reading Music)

  • I can read rhythms with quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, and quarter rests.
  • I can decode letter names of the notes.

MU:Pr4.3.6a – Perform a selected piece of music demonstrating how their interpretations of the elements of music and the expressive qualities (such as dynamics, tempo, timbre, articulation/style, and phrasing) convey intent.

  • I can perform the “Surf” chord progression on the ukulele with correct holding position, fingering, and to a steady beat.  

MU:Cr2.1.6b – Use standard and/or iconic notation and/or audio/video recording to document personal simple rhythmic phrases, melodic phrases, and two chord harmonic musical ideas.

  • I can compose a melody in 4/4 using the C pentatonic scale and write it in standard music notation
