Salt Lake Elementary School (SLES) celebrated a highly successful Diamond Bakery Fundraiser with a prize assembly on Thursday, October 30th! Our amazing SLES Ohana truly showed up for our students. Lottery prizes awarded included gift cards to Chuck E. Cheese and McDonald's, bag Charms, and Diamond Bakery Gift Baskets. The grand prize drawing was a huge hit, featuring a 1-night stay at the Aulani Resort (valued at $700) and a PlayStation 5! Thanks to everyone's hard work and community support, this fundraiser will directly fund essential grade-level requests, covering everything from field trips to student activities like Camp Erdman and the 6th Grade Promotion.

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) is encouraging families who have experienced a change in income due to furloughs or job losses from the federal government shutdown to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits for the current school year.

After a remarkable 43-year career in education, including 27 years at Salt Lake Elementary School, Principal Duwayne F. Abe retired on July 1, 2025. Principal Abe's unwavering commitment to the students of Hawaii has left an indelible mark on the educational landscape, particularly within the Moanalua Complex.

We're thrilled to announce that Mr. Randall Galeon has been selected as the new Principal of Salt Lake Elementary School, effective July 22, 2025. Mr. Galeon has been an invaluable part of our school community, serving as Vice Principal at Salt Lake Elementary for the past eight years. We're excited for his continued leadership in this new role!

Our Annual Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in October. Parent Teacher Conferences for students in Grades K-5 will be on October 22nd - October 31, 2025
Students in Grade 6 will be having Student Led Conferences from October 27th - October 29th. Note that during Parent-Teacher conferences, school ends at 1:05 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for all students. Wednesday release time will remain at 1:15 p.m.

Our Diamond Bakery Cookie Fundraiser Pick up is on Saturday, October 25th from 8:00-11:30 am in the Salt Lake Elementary Cafeteria. Families will need the yellow confirmation form to pick up their cookie order. Confirmation Forms were distributed on Wednesday 10/22. Thank you for supporting our Fall Fundraiser!

Aiea Complex Presents 4th Annual Trunk or Treat at the Salt Lake District Park on October 24, 2025 from 5:00-7:30 PM

Order from an Papa John's island wide on Thursday, October 16th top help SLES raise funds for school intiatives and student programs. 25% of the recorded sales will be donated back to Salt Lake Elementary School. The class with the highest sales will win a pizza party courtesy of Papa Johns! High frenzy to our September winner, Ms. Oshiro's Grade 2 class!

Kenneth’s Photography will be on campus for Fall Portraits on Wednesday October 1-2, 2025. Grades 3-6 will be taking pictures on Wednesday October 1st and Grades K-2 on October 2nd. SLES uniforms are not required for picture taking. Attire must comply with the student dress code in the Student and Parent Handbook. READ FULL STORY for more information!

Together with the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, SLES is hosting a 3Rs School Recycling Drive on Saturday, September 13th from 9:00-11:00 am in our school parking lot. This is an opportunity for families and community members to drop off a variety of items to ReUse and ReCycle! All proceeds from redeemable HI-5 containers, scrap metal and used cooking oil will be donated to the SLES Student Council.
